Abortion is one of several pregnancy options. If you’re feeling pressure from a friend, partner, or family member, know the decision is ultimately up to you. The more information you have about all your options, the more clarity you will have when making your final pregnancy decision.

You have two options other than abortion: making an adoption plan and parenting. We at North Care can help you learn more about all of your options.

Your Adoption Options

Adoption is the legal process that establishes a permanent adoptive parent-child relationship, giving the adoptive parents the rights and responsibilities of a biological parent. An expectant mother or birth mother never pays for adoption services.

You have three different adoption plans to choose from, including:

1. Open Adoption Plan

With an open adoption, you have open communication with the adoptive family and exchange names, addresses, and phone numbers. Each party works together to communicate with one another and your child. It’s up to both parties to build the type of relationship they want.

2. Closed Adoption Plan

A closed adoption involves the adoptive family and birth mom remaining anonymous. The courts seal the child’s birth certificate and identifying information after everything is finalized with the adoption. Some women who choose this adoption plan feel they receive a type of closure. Or, if you are concerned for your child’s safety, this may be your best option.

3. Semi-open Adoption Plan

Your third adoption option is semi-open adoption. With semi-open adoption, you have a mix of open and closed adoption. Communication between you, your child, and the adoptive family occurs only through the adoption agency or specialist you’ve chosen.

Your Parenting Option

Maybe parenting seems like the most challenging option, but it’s important to remember that no choice is void of challenges. Having the right parenting support and resources available to you is key.

You could be asking yourself the following questions about parenting and what it could look like for you:

  • Can I financially support my child?
  • What will my partner do?
  • Will my partner or family support me and our child?
  • Can I continue my schooling/college?
  • Is there parenting support available to me?
  • How do I raise a newborn?

Our compassionate team at North Care is here to help you tackle these big questions and work through them with you.
