Your First Step

Your first step when considering your options for your unplanned pregnancy is pregnancy confirmation. Here at North Care Women’s Clinic we offer free pregnancy confirmation appointments, to verify that you are really pregnant, and that your pregnancy is viable, before weighing all your options.  Many questions flood your mind when you think you are facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Do I have a viable pregnancy?

At your pregnancy confirmation appointment you will take a laboratory quality pregnancy test. If the test result is positive you will be offered an ultrasound to check the viability of your pregnancy if you are eligible.

A viable pregnancy is a pregnancy inside the uterus that is not ending naturally. Basically, checking for a viable pregnancy is checking to see if you are having a miscarriage. Up to 1 in 5 pregnancies end naturally. It is important to know if your pregnancy is viable before you take the next step. An ultrasound can determine viability. How far along am I?

An ultrasound is the most accurate way to date a pregnancy. The gestational age (how far along you are in your pregnancy) is key in determining your due date, and pregnancy options including the type and cost of an abortion procedure (read more about the different abortion procedures in our health information section)

Do I have an STD?

An untreated STD can have a negative effect on your health and the health of your pregnancy. North Care Women’s Clinic offers testing for chlamydia and gonorrhea.
We are here to help you navigate unplanned pregnancy. During your appointment you will be equipped with the information you need to choose your direction regarding your pregnancy and your future.

Our appointments are completely confidential.  Every year we help hundreds of women facing unplanned pregnancies, and understand the importance of privacy.
