Support In Understanding Results
North Care Women’s Clinic offers medical services, and support in understanding the results of the services you receive.
We offer laboratory quality, highly accurate pregnancy testing to verify your pregnancy or confirm a positive home test. Our tests can detect a pregnancy 7-10 days after conception. You may schedule an appointment for free of charge pregnancy testing as early as the first day you miss your period. Test results are confidential.
Once you have a positive pregnancy test, you may have the option of a free of charge ultrasound to determine pregnancy viability and gestational age. Did you know that up to 1 in 5 pregnancies end naturally in miscarriage?¹ An ultrasound can detect if you are miscarrying. It is also the most accurate way to date your pregnancy, which is information you will need for any decision you make regarding your pregnancy. A licensed ultrasonographer can perform an ultrasound exam when you are 6 weeks from your last period. Our Supervising Doctor will review your ultrasound and staff is available to discuss the results with you.
North Care Women’s Clinic performs ultrasounds in order to:
- Confirm viable pregnancy
- Detect fetal heart beat
- Determine gestational age
- Determine estimated due date
- Determine if it’s a multiple birth pregnancy (twins, triplets, etc.)
- Determine the location of the pregnancy (intrauterine/ectopic)
STD testing is available free of charge for both males and females (chlamydia and gonorrhea). Chlamydia or gonorrhea are the two most common bacterial STDs. Testing will show if you have either. Both chlamydia and gonorrhea can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID) if left untreated.² The CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommends yearly chlamydia testing for all sexually active women age 25 or younger and older women with risk factors for chlamydial infections (e.g., women who have a new or more than one sex partner), and all pregnant women. Treatment is available if you test positive for chlamydia or gonorrhea.
